Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Chief Engineer is responsible for overall engineering, maintenance, upgrades budgeting, directing a team, safety, and managing engineering processes within the Bakery.
This position requires interaction with all internal departments, 3rd party vendors, and customers to which engineering, and manufacturing equipment maintenance services are provided.
Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
Performs management duties as designated by Chief Engineer.
Recommends to chief engineer needed improvement in equipment functions.
Works in compliance with all regulatory and company requirements.
Ensure all work areas are clean, safe, and following company GMP's.
Ensure that engineering staff work in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with federal and state requirements.
Ensure that all work assignments are completed as designated by Chief Engineer.
Work in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with federal and state requirements.
Maintains accurate and timely records of work performed on work orders, maintenance calls, and preventative maintenance reports.
Orders parts required for equipment repairs.
Responds to maintenance and line stoppage calls.
Performs duties in all areas within maintenance department.
Provides technical assistance and information to chief engineer as needed.
Display initiative in recognizing work to be accomplished and make recommendations to chief engineer.
Effective communication skills with all staff and vendors Support and adherence to Franz Core Values Additional duties and/or responsibilities as assigned Safety Responsibility:
Use proper LOTO process when required while performing operator or clean up duties Follow plant safety rules and procedures Encourage safe work techniques for all employees (mentor/coach) Perform all duties safely and to use discretion to prevent injuries.
Complete annual safety refresher training requirements.
Minimum Requirements Job Requirements:
High school graduate or GED required.
Electrical knowledge or Electrical license preferred.
Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office and CMMS.
Knowledge of tooling design and fabrication.
Proven ability to manage multiple project plans, with solid project and time-management skills.
Attention to detail to effectively manage multiple projects and departmental responsibilities.
Excellent organization skills.
Outstanding verbal and written communication.
Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Ability to effectively lead teams of employees to achieve goal completion.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
